Iowa/Penn State Tailgate Features Blaiyne, alcohol-free parking

IOWA CITY, IOWA — Those who are ready to party early before Saturday's Iowa/Penn State game can join the crowd at 9 a.m. behind Slater Hall in UI's Lot 14. Food, beverages and music by "Blaiyne" will kick off the pre-game celebration.

"This tail-gate event is open to everyone: students, adult fans and their children – even students and fans from the opposing team," said Julie Phye, coordinator of the Stepping Up Project. "And you don't have to park in Lot 14 to participate in our tailgate."

Lot 14 is located just south of Slater Residence Hall at the northeast corner of Melrose and Grand Avenues and is UI's designated alcohol-free lot. Football parking is available in all UI lots beginning at 7 a.m. for $5 per car. Game time Saturday is 11:10 a.m.

Sponsors of Saturday's alcohol-free tailgate are: Wesley Foundation; Fareway; Blue Bunny Ice Cream; Trinity Episcopal Church; New Song Episcopal Church; and Episcopal Campus ministry.

The Stepping Up Project is a community coalition to reduce the harmful consequences of high-risk drinking and is funded in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. For more information, call Julie Phye at (319) 335-1349.
