Public invited to a free seminar on lung cancer Nov. 18

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Area residents are invited to hear University of Iowa Health Care experts discuss lung cancer at a free seminar from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Hampton Inn/Clarion Hotel Conference Center in Coralville.

"Health for Your Lifetime, Learning the Lessons on Lung Cancer " is one of a series of educational seminars planned this year. Speaking at the seminar will be Jeff Kern, M.D., and Kemp Kernstine, M.D., Ph.D.

Kern, UI professor of internal medicine, will review the causes of lung cancer and the techniques used to diagnose it.

Kernstine, UI associate professor of surgery, will discuss the surgical treatment options available after a diagnosis has been determined.

In addition, members of the thoracic oncology team with UI Health Care also will be available to speak to the audience and answer questions.
