Brad Allison certified as campus crime prevention specialist

IOWA CITY, Iowa — UI public safety officer Brad Allison has been certified as a campus crime prevention specialist by the Campus Crime Prevention Program, a national organization of campus public safety programs.

Allison attended the 1999 Campus Crime Prevention Seminar in Louisville, Ky., a two-week training program for campus officers. The training focused on the elements of a comprehensive campus safety program, including locks and locking systems, key control and key management, security alarms, lighting, glazing materials, closed circuit television, electronic access control, physical security surveys, building security designs, sexual assault prevention, and illegal drug interdiction and abatement, as well as the design of campus-specific crime prevention programs, including those for academic libraries.

Charles Green, director of the UI Public Safety Office, urged UI departments to contact Allison for assistance in designing specific safety and crime prevention programs for their units.
