UI, Public Health Department to survey Iowa families'
health needs
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa researchers
next summer will begin a statewide telephone survey of Iowa families with
children to determine their health status and health care needs.
The study, to be conducted by researchers at the UI
Public Policy Center, was funded through the Iowa Department of Public Health
and the UI Child Health Specialty Clinics by a grant from the federal Maternal
and Child Health Bureau. Over the next two years, more than 3,600 telephone
interviews will be conducted and analyzed. Care will be taken to include families
of children with special health care needs, racial and ethnic minorities,
and families who have no telephone service.
The survey results will be used to help develop future
child health services and systems.
(NOTE TO EDITORS: For more information on this
survey, contact the UI Public Policy Center at (319) 335-6815.)
