Portion of Market Street to be closed Nov. 9

NOTE TO EDITORS: The closing of a portion of Market Street originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5, has been rescheduled to accommodate Parents’ Day. We apologize for any inconvenience.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Market Street will be closed from Clinton Street to Madison Street from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9 to allow work on a renovation project in the Chemistry Building on the University of Iowa campus. Traffic will be redirected to Jefferson Street, which will carry two-way traffic during the period Market Street is closed. The UI offices of Public Safety and Facilities Services will oversee pedestrian traffic control at the T. Ann Cleary walkway at Jefferson and Market Streets.

The block will be closed to accommodate the installation of an air handling unit on the Chemistry Building. The total project, which will be completed by January 30, 2000, consists of renovation of the fifth floor into new laboratory space.
