Working with Parents Fund for Student Support dollars raised through the UI Foundation, the board chose from a list of 18 proposed projects. Those selected are:

-- Parent Calling Project, Office of Vice President for Student Services, $3,500. Parents of first-year students are contacted for input regarding their students’ first few months on campus

-- WOW: Weeks of Welcome Activities, Admissions, Residence Services, Office of Student Life, $2,500. Money supports activities that help new students adjust to the campus community

-- Safewalk, Women’s Resource and Action Center, $7,500; Funds support an intern coordinator for student volunteers who "safe walk" other students home at night.

-- New Student Handbook, Admissions-Orientation, $700; Postage is paid for mailing handbook and orientation materials to parents of students who couldn’t attend orientation.

-- Daily Planner ad, Hawkeye Event Tracker, Department of Public Safety, $198. This page gives students quick reference to Public Safety phone numbers and services provided.
