Parents Association, Clifton Gunderson sponsor UI alcohol-free tailgate

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Hot dogs will be sizzling on the grill as tailgaters line up for human darts, volleyball and the music of McLain 88 at this Saturday’s Iowa vs. University of Illinois alcohol-free tailgate. The party begins at 11 a.m. in lot 14, UI’s designated alcohol-free parking lot, behind Slater Hall at the northeast corner of Melrose and Grand avenues.

As part of UI Parents Weekend activities, the UI Parents Association is co-sponsoring the Stepping Up Project event with Clifton Gunderson, PLC. Student sponsors are Slater Hall and the Panhellenic Association.

Tailgaters don’t need to park in lot 14 to attend the free party. The event is free and open to everyone, including students and fans from the opposing team.

UI football parking lots open at 7 a.m. Parking is $5 per car in all UI lots. Game time on Saturday is 1 p.m.

The Stepping Up Project is a community and campus coalition to reduce high-risk drinking and is funded in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. For more information, call Julie Phye at (319) 335-1349.
