Local University of Iowa student named to honorary dental fraternity

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- (Name), a fourth-year student at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry from (hometown), is one of eight UI dental students elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a national dental fraternity.

(Last name) is the (son/daughter) of (parents’ names). (He/she) will he honored at the annual OKU recognition dinner June 3 in Iowa City.

Only 12 percent of each year’s graduating class is selected to OKU. Selection is based on outstanding scholarship, exemplary character and potential for professional growth and development. Faculty members who also are OKU members choose students to induct.

OKU was founded in 1914, and its Mu Chapter was chartered at the UI in 1923. The three Greek letters represent teeth, health and conservation.
