UI hosts maple syrup demonstration Saturday, March 20

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Division of Recreation Services will host a demonstration program on how to make maple syrup from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area's Archery Pavilion.

The demonstration, free and open to the public, will feature the process of collecting sap from maple trees and boiling the sap down to syrup. All persons attending the program will have an opportunity to taste the final product.

John Miller, maintenance coordinator at the recreation area, will lead the program. Macbride Nature Recreation Area is located on County Road F-28 between North Liberty and Solon. For further information, contact the Division of Recreational Services at 335-9293.
