March Women's Center Coffeehouse features local singer-songwriter, open mic

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa City singer-songwriter Amy Carder headlines the University of Iowa Women's Resource and Action Center's March Coffeehouse on Friday, March 26.

Carder, a UI graduate student and teaching assistant, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Women's Center, 130 North Madison St. Carder's recent release, Tadpole, sold well at the Iowa Women's Music Festival last fall. Her songs "capture real-life experiences and there is a sense of groundedness to them," says UI junior Natalie Benway.

Following Carder's performance, UI student Cat Berry will read poetry, and in the tradition of the WRAC Coffeehouse, there will be an open mic time "filled with readings, singing and performance art," says Suzi Steffen, Coffeehouse committee member.

For childcare or other information, or to sign up early for the open mic, please call the Women's Center at 335-1486.
