UI Team Supports IPTV Friends
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A team of 15 faculty, staff and students from the
University of Iowa will participate in Iowa Public Television's annual
pledge drive program, FESTIVAL '99, bringing in new Friends for IPTV.
UI volunteers will be taking phone pledges from callers during the 6 p.m.
midnight shift on Monday, March 8.
UI faculty, staff and students have participated in this event for the
past four years. The group's founder and former UI faculty senate president
Dr. Warren Piette said, "As a premiere educational institution, we
want to show our support for the arts, sciences and humanities beyond our
own campus, on a statewide basis. IPTV provided us that opportunity, and
each year UI faculty, staff and students collaborate to show our support.
We are the only university among the three state regents institutions that
has team representation for this pledge drive."
Friends of Iowa Public Television is a nonprofit organization,
created in 1969, and is committed to the development, growth and support
of Iowa Public Television through the building of a strong statewide membership
base. FESTIVAL '99 runs from March 6-21.
