UI law students host 'Law Law Palooza' band charity event March 6

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa law students will take a respite from a week's worth of studies Saturday, March 6 opting for fun and frolic as they host this year's "Law Law Palooza" fundraising event.

Law Law Palooza is open to the public and will be from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Que Bar, 211 Iowa Ave., Iowa City.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

The annual event, which takes its name from the touring rock'n'roll musical festival "Lalapalooza," features local bands, some made up of UI law students and faculty, says second-year law student and organizer Marty Arnott.

Arnott says he hopes the event raises $1,500 for the UI chapter of the Equal Justice Foundation, a program that provides money for students who work free for persons or an agency that can't afford to pay for a lawyer's services. Last year's event raised roughly $1,100, Arnott says.

We will give away as much as $600 in door prizes, and all proceeds will go to the Equal Justice Foundation, Arnott says.
