IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa is offering a "Chickadee Camp" March 15-19 to educate area youth about local habitats, wildlife and conservation.

The camp, which will be held at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area, will teach the children about the diverse ecology of the woodlands, wetlands and prairies. Also included will be sessions on bald eagle watching, bird banding, wilderness survival and maple syrup making.

Campers will be transported by bus daily from the UI Recreation Building, located off of Hawkins Drive, to the Macbride Nature Recreation Area at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 4 p.m. each day. The $120 registration fee covers the week's events and a "Chickadee Camp" t-shirt.

The camp is intended for third-to-sixth graders. For registration information, contact the UI Division of Recreational Services at 335-9293. For any other questions, contact Dave Conrads, the UI Wildlife Camp coordinator, at 335-9289.
