Davis receives Dean's Achievement Award from University of Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa --Troy R. Davis of Angleton, Texas recently received a Dean's Achievement Award from the University of Iowa.

Davis was honored in May at the UI's Multicultural Graduation and Recognition Banquet, recognizing minority students receiving professional, graduate, and undergraduate degrees from the UI.

Each year the deans in each of the ten colleges at the UI are asked to select an outstanding student for this award. Davis received a certificate designating him as a Dean’s Achievement Award recipient.

Davis completed his Master of Business Administration degree from the Henry B. Tippie School of Management at the UI this spring.

He has held executive positions in the MBA Association, the Minority MBA Association, and the Graduate Marketing Association. In fall 1998 Troy represented the Henry B. Tippie School of Management as a member of the case competition team at the National Black MBA Association Annual Conference. The past year he has been a teaching assistant in the marketing department.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University in 1987, he joined Macy's California Executive Training Program. His retail experience includes positions as buyer, sales manager, merchandise manager, and merchandise planner for companies such as Macy's, Club Sportswear, Sesame Street General Stores, and the Garden Ridge Corporation.

He has recently accepted a position with Kraft Food's Oscar Meyer division in Madison, Wis.
