UI summer commencement exercises to be held Friday, July 30

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Two commencement ceremonies will bring down the curtain on the 1999 summer academic session at the University of Iowa on Friday, July 30. Doctoral and master’s degrees will be conferred at a 2 p.m. ceremony in Hancher Auditorium. Bachelor’s degrees will be awarded at a 7:30 p.m. ceremony, also at Hancher.

There are 958 degree candidates, including 584 undergraduates, 348 graduate students, and 26 professional students. UI President Mary Sue Coleman will address the graduates at the undergraduate commencement and confer degrees at both ceremonies. Vice President Ann Rhodes will speak at the graduate ceremony.

Both ceremonies are open to the public. Seats are not reserved and tickets are not necessary for admission.
