Palmer receives Kate Daum Scholarship

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Lynleigh Palmer, a graduate of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Dietetic Internship Program, has been awarded the 1999 Kate Daum Scholarship for continued graduate study in human nutrition.

Palmer graduated from the Dietetic Internship Program in June 1997. Currently, she is a clinical dietician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. She plans to pursue her education at the UI.

The Kate Daum Scholarship provides $4,500 to a student who demonstrates academic achievement and professional promise in the field of nutrition. The award is named in honor of

Kate Daum, who served as director of the nutrition department at UI Hospitals and Clinics from 1926 to 1955 and as president of the American Dietetic Association in 1932.
