WRAC marks coffeehouse anniversary Jan. 30

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at the University of Iowa marks the year anniversary of the WRAC Coffeehouse with "Celebrating Women's Voices" Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The January Coffeehouse will be at the WRAC, 130 North Madison, and it will feature the Graffiti Girls Theater Troupe and an open microphone.

The Graffiti Girls have performed at two previous coffeehouses and have been invited back because "We all enjoyed their talent and skill at writing and performing fresh, relevant material focused around their experiences," says coffeehouse committee member Suzi Steffen.

During the open mike section, various local singer-songwriters will perform, women will read poetry and prose, and they will drum, dance and perform in various other ways, Steffen says. The open mike is open to any woman who wants to participate, but slots are limited. Please call 335-1486 to sign up for the open mike or for information about volunteering to help with the Women's Center Coffeehouse.
