UI Recreational Services offers Rocky Mountain trip

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Registration is now under way for a hiking and camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado July 11-17, sponsored by the University of Iowa Division of Recreational Services.

Participants will camp at Glacier Basin Group Campground on the East side of the park. Glacier Basin is a comfortably located base camp close to many popular hiking trails.

"Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the premier locations for hiking and climbing in the United States. It has many, many miles of scenic hiking trails that ranges from easy to very demanding," said Wayne Fett, associate director in the UI Division of Recreational Services.

The cost of this trip is $450 and includes transportation, most meals, camping fees and permits and lodging before and after the trip in Loveland, Colo. The trip is limited to eight people, and registration has already begun.

The trip is part of the Division's Touch The Earth Outdoor Recreation and Education program, which uses adventure-based learning to give participants the confidence and expertise to continue to enjoy the outdoors.

No previous camping experience is needed. For more information, contact the Recreational Services Office in the UI Field House at (319) 335-9290.
