Media Advisory: Council completes report card on status of UI women

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Council on the Status of Women has completed its Fourth Annual Report Card and will have copies available for reporters beginning Thursday, Feb. 18.

The Report Card grades the university in five areas: campus climate, salary equity, recruitment and retention, sexual harassment, and overall leadership. The new grades, along with grades from the previous reports are as follows:

The council's report contains a full explanation of the programs and initiatives that were considered in determining each grade.

The Council on the Status of Women was established in 1976 and consists of 20 voting members -- five members each from the faculty, professional and scientific staff, merit staff, and student body -- as well as ex-officio members from the office of the University Vice Presidents and Provost, the Affirmative Action Office, the Women's Resource and Action Center, the Rape Victim Advocacy Program, and the Women's Studies Program.
