UI Alumni Association and Placement Office to host Internet job search seminar

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The University of Iowa Alumni Association and the UI Business and Liberal Arts Placement Office (BLAPO) are co-sponsoring an educational program about Internet job search techniques at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Cherry Auditorium on the Coe College Campus.

Laurie Dufoe, BLAPO associate director, will give a presentation focusing on simplifying the tasks of locating job listings, researching companies and networking by using the World Wide Web. Participants can discover useful Internet sites and learn how to save both time and money by conducting job searches on the Internet.

"As we move into the next century, job seekers have to recognize that strategies for locating jobs have changed. Companies are posting an overwhelming amount of career information and job opportunities on the Web. By looking at the right sites, candidates can now access more opportunities and contacts across broad geographic areas," Dufoe said.

The Wednesday evening program is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact the UI Alumni Association at (319) 335-3294 or 1-800- IOWALUM (1-800-469-2586).
