Women invited to participate in UI study on new oral contraceptive
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Area women are invited to participate in a University
of Iowa College of Public Health study on a new, investigational oral contraceptive.
The study will last seven months and involve five clinic visits to Iowa City.
Participants will receive a physical exam, including a PAP test and pelvic
exam, at the beginning of the study and again during the last clinic visit.
To qualify for the study, women must:
--be age 18 or older;
--be currently using a medically effective form of birth control other than
hormones (birth control pills, implants or shots) or an intrauterine device
--not be pregnant or planning to become pregnant in the next seven months;
--be non-smokers or smoke less than a pack of cigarettes a day.
The study is funded by Wyeth-Ayerst Research. Compensation is available.
