Mayflower to show off renovations during open house Dec. 3-4

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa's Mayflower Residence Hall will hold an Open House Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3 and 4, to showcase recent renovations to the building's interior.

The 24-hour event at Mayflower, 1100 N. Dubuque St., will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, followed at 3:30 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and at 3:45 p.m. with a tour. Other activities include a staff social, bazaar, open mike night/karaoke and movie all-nighter Friday, and an arcade game competition and dance Saturday.

The free event is open to University of Iowa students, faculty and staff.

Mayflower renovations were made to the lobby, coffee shop, recreation room, multi-purpose room and offices. Plans are also under way to renovate "History Hall," a space between the new front desk and the multi-purpose room that features panels of photos chronicling Mayflower's history.
