‘Women in Touch’ support group to begin Sept. 8

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A weekly discussion group for lesbian and bisexual women on the impact of sexism and homophobia in their lives is being offered at the Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at the University of Iowa beginning Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The "Women in Touch" support group includes sessions on early childhood experiences; body image; friendships, dating and relationships; intimacy; sexuality; and the lesbian/biwomen’s community. Facilitator for the group will be Suzi Steffen who has facilitated "Women in Touch" groups for the past few years. One of the group's main goals is empowering bisexual and lesbian women to learn from and support each other, Steffen says.

The six-week group will meet at the Women’s Center, 140 N. Madison Street, across from the Iowa Memorial Union. For more information or to register for group, call the Women’s Center at 335-1486.

"Women in Touch" was designed by "Affirmations: Gay and Lesbian Cultural Center" in Detroit, Mich.
