UI sees steady local enrollment for nationwide STAR trial
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa Health Care researchers continue to seek possible participants for the Study of Tamoxifen and Raloxifene (STAR), a nationwide clinical study looking at two possible breast cancer prevention drugs.
The UI has screened 50 possible participants since the trial began June 1. Over the next five years, researchers around the country plan to enroll and follow 22,000 women.
The UI Hospitals and Clinics is one of 200 national nucleus sites for the trial and oversees five sub-centers in Davenport, Ames, Clinton, Waterloo and Hinsdale, Ill.
