UI Cancer Center offers student stipend award

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Cancer Center is offering a $2,500 student stipend award to an outstanding student in the medical, dental or health professional degree programs to pursue a research career in cancer.

Funds to support the stipend are provided by the American Cancer Society.

Students are asked to submit a one- to two-page proposal describing his/her research project, its relevance to cancer, the objectives of the project, biographical information and an overview of the facilities to be utilized. Students should also include a letter of support from their faculty mentor.

Proposals will be accepted from those enrolled in a formal degree program, but those within a research-oriented degree program are not eligible.

Interested parties must submit five copies of the application by 5 p.m. May 14. The successful applicant will be announced in June.
