UI program sponsors 'study tour' of Australia Dec. 20 to Jan. 3
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- People interested in exploring the cultural, geographic
and educational sites of Australia are invited to take part in a 15-day
"study tour" of the Pacific island nation Dec. 20 to Jan. 3,
sponsored by the Office of International Education of the University of
Iowa College of Education.
The trip is intended to provide educators, students, and people with
an interest in other cultures with the opportunity to learn about Australia,
its people and its educational and religious institutions in a way that
provides an in-depth introduction that isn't available to most tourists.
The public is welcome to join the tour.
Registration for the tour is $3,200, which includes airfare, transportation
in and around Australia, and all lodging. The costs also cover an average
of two meals a day.
Students can receive up to eight hours of credit from the UI, but must
complete two seminars before departure, two seminars after returning to
the United States, and take part in a faculty-led discussion each night
of the tour. The costs include tuition.
The office has sponsored previous tours to Mexico, Australia, Guatemala,
Honduras and Belize.
