Homecoming activities planned for alumni reunion celebrations

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa alumni celebrating their class reunions will have a full slate of activities to enjoy during the University of Iowa Alumni Association's Homecoming Reunion Weekend Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10.

The Alumni Association is hosting reunions for UI classes of 1973, 1978 and 1998, along with College of Pharmacy classes of 1948, 1958 and 1993, the College of Law class of 1968, and the College of Business Administration class of 1993.

In addition to UI college-wide Homecoming events, the alumni will participate in class dinners and pre-game tailgates as part of Homecoming weekend. All alumni are invited to the Alumni Association's Second Annual Pep Rally Tailgate before the Iowa/Northwestern game on Saturday, Oct. 10.

More than 500 graduates are registered to attend Homecoming Reunion Weekend, and the association expects 200 to attend the tailgate at the UI Recreation Building, just a block away from Kinnick Stadium.

"The alumni Homecoming tailgate is a great opportunity for all alumni, not just those the association is honoring, to come back to campus and enjoy the pre-game festivities in an indoor setting with a lunch buffet, Herky, the UI cheerleaders, and the alumni and marching bands," said Staci Prochaska, the Alumni Association's reunion director.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. in Kinnick Stadium (subject to change if the game is televised). Most game-day activities, including the alumni tailgate, begin two hours prior to kickoff. For a complete schedule of the Homecoming Reunion Weekend activities, see the Alumni Association's web page at

Registration deadline for the Alumni Association activities is Monday, Sept. 28. For more information, call the Alumni Association at (800) IOWALUM or (319) 335-3294.
