IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Engineering's Iowa
Institute of Hydraulic Research (IIHR) will host the 25th American Towing
Tank Conference from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept.
25 at the Iowa Memorial Union.
The conference will be attended by more than 50 researchers from the
United States and Canada and will feature the presentation of about 40
papers on topics ranging from ice testing to ship propulsion.
The program will also include a Sept. 25 dinner to be held in memory
of the late Louis Landweber, professor of civil and environmental engineering.
Landweber, who died in January at the age of 86, was not only a revered
professor and a researcher in the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research,
but also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and one of the
world's leading ship hydrodynamicists.
