Best-selling author and former National Lampoon editor P.J. O'Rourke reads Sept. 24 at UI

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Gadfly humorist and neo-conservative social critic P.J. O'Rourke will read from his new book "Eat the Rich" at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 in Buchanan Auditorium of the Pappajohn School of Business. The free reading will be broadcast live on WSUI AM-910 and

WOI AM-640 as part of the "Live From Prairie Lights" series, sponsored by the Prairie Lights bookstore in downtown Iowa City.

O'Rourke's newest book offers a satirical examination of the global economy in which the author struggles to understand "why some countries are thriving and prosperous and others just suck."

The former editor of the National Lampoon, O'Rourke is also the best-selling author of eight books, including "Holidays in Hell," "Parliament of Whores" and "Give War a Chance."

O'Rourke's work has been published in Forbes FYI, Esquire, the New York Times Book Review, the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone, where he is currently foreign affairs desk chief.
