UI business program holds seminar on 'hiring smart' Sept. 15
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The founder of an eastern Iowa business consulting
company will lead a half-day seminar on ways small businesses can improve
their hiring process on Tuesday Sept. 15 at the University of Iowa Pappajohn
Business Administration Building.
Jack Ulmer, founder of Ulmer and Associates, will lead the seminar,
"The New Art of Hiring Smart," from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 in
Room S126 of the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.
The UI Small Business Development Center is sponsoring the session,
which requires pre-registration. Cost is $25.
Seminar topics include components and problems in the traditional hiring
process, identifying hiring problems, conducting interviews, the true cost
of turnover, innovative prospecting techniques, using background checks,
and job matching.
Ulmer has 26 years of experience as a human resource professional. He
founded his own company 10 years ago after serving as compensation and
benefits manager at Norand Corporation. His company consults for several
industries and businesses in eastern Iowa.
