Sex columnist Anka Radakovich to speak at UI about dating, love in the 90s

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Anka Radakovich, a columnist for Details magazine, will speak at the University of Iowa Monday, Nov. 2 about "Sex, Love and Dating in the 90s." Her lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union and is sponsored by the University Lecture Committee.

Radakovich is an outspoken columnist who writes about her own "sex-capades" and sexual misadventures and considers herself a sexual anthropologist. "I tell men what women think of's like eavesdropping on women talking," she says.

Aside from her own candid tales of sex, Radakovich also covers issues of date rape, sexual harassment and AIDS in her columns.

"People in their 20s want everything: hot sex, love, someone beautiful, intelligent and fun. But they're not getting it. AIDS is largely to blame. So they're hopeful but helpless... so I might as well entertain them," Radakovich says.

Her columns have been compiled in a book, "The Wild Girls Club: Tales From Below the Belt," now in its third printing. In 1997 she published a second book, "Sexplorations: Journeys to the Erogenous Frontier."

For more information, contact the Lecture Committee at (319) 335-3255 or the committee's coordinator for this event, Milton Thurmond at 358-7022. Interviews with Radakovich can be arranged through her booking agency, Keppler Associates Inc. Contact Sean Lawton by phone, (703) 516-4000, or by fax, (703) 516-4819.
