Iowa Memorial Union to feature comedy, music and movies

IOWA CITY, Iowa ­ The University of Iowa Union Programming Board is presenting a wide variety of entertainment in November, ranging from comedy to concerts.

Here is the schedule of events:
--The Vanguard Jazz Collective will perform in the Wheel Room Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. and again on Thursday, Nov. 19. The collective is made up of 18 eastern Iowa musicians ranging in age from 18 to 86 and features improvisational soloists and a jazz vocalist.
--Jen Cohen performs Saturday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Wheel Room. The singer from Nashville varies her music styles, but stays close to the folk/pop style. Cohen appeals to many ages and was voted one of the top four college-touring pop/rock bands.
--As part of the Union Programming Board's "Free Friday Night Flicks," the movie "Good Will Hunting" will be shown Friday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. on the big screen in the IMU Wheel Room.
--IC Improv, a local improvisational comedy group, will be at the Wheel Room Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m.
--National recording artist "Jim's Big Ego" will perform Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. in the Wheel Room. This Maine-based trio is lead by front man Jim Infantino and features a blend of poetry and groove-pop.
