'Old' is new issue of 100 Words, now available from UI International Writing Program

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa International Writing Program (IWP) has released the "Old" issue of 100 Words, the program's unique literary journal. The issue features prose and poetry works of 100 words or fewer in response to the word "Old."

The IWP created 100 Words in 1993. Each issue is comprised of responses to a single "trigger word."

Contributors of writing to "Old" come from the Netherlands, Canada, India, the Czech Republic, Sri Lanka, Germany, Argentina, Malaysia, Hungary, Turkey/Jordan, the United Kingdom, Brazil and the United States. Artwork was provided by Duffy O'Connor.

100 Words has subscribers throughout the United States and around the world. Copies may be obtained for $3 from the IWP, 473 English-Philosophy Building, the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242. Copies also may be purchased at several Iowa City-area book stores: Prairie Lights Books, the Murphy-Brookfield Bookstore and the Haunted Bookshop.

IWP writers interact, formally and informally, with each other and with the many poets, fiction writers, playwrights and translators at the UI and in Iowa City. Over the years writers from more than 110 countries have completed residencies in the program.
