Bob Ravenscroft joins UI Foundation

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Bob Ravenscroft of Cedar Rapids has joined the University of Iowa Foundation executive staff as director of development for the UI College of Education and special projects, including the Office of Student Financial Aid and the UI Parents Association.

Ravenscroft assumed his duties May 4. His most recent position was as a project manager for RuffaloCODY/McLeodUSA in Cedar Rapids, where he developed annual, capital and membership campaigns for university and other nonprofit clients. He also has supervised customer financial services for MCI Telecommunications in Cedar Rapids.

A UI graduate, Ravenscroft has previously served the university as assistant director of the UI Alumni Association and prior to that as video production director of the UI athletic department.

Michael New, the Foundation's vice president for development programs, said Ravenscroft's "thorough understanding of the UI, experience in fund raising and interest in education will enable him to work effectively with our alumni contributors and other supporters of the College of Education as well as special university programs that directly benefit students."

A native of Storm Lake, Ravenscroft earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies from the University of Iowa in 1987. A student internship in the UI athletic department led to his employment there immediately after graduation.

The University of Iowa Foundation is the preferred channel of support for private contributions to all areas of the University of Iowa. Foundation staff work with alumni, friends and businesses to provide scholarships, resources and other support to the College of Education and other UI colleges and programs.
