Local UI student named to honorary dental fraternity

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- (Name), a fourth-year student at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry from (hometown), is one of eight UI dental students elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), a national dental fraternity.

(Last name) is the (son/daughter) of (parents' names). (He/she) will be honored at the annual OKU recognition dinner June 4 in Iowa City.

Only 12 percent of each year's graduating class is elected to OKU. Selection is based on outstanding scholarship, exemplary character, and potential for professional growth and development. Students are chosen by faculty who are also OKU members.

OKU was founded in 1914, and its Mu Chapter was chartered at the UI in 1923. The three Greek letters represent teeth, health and conservation.
