UI lecturer to discuss ethics in the teaching and practice of law

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The training of lawyers, the impact of the changing nature of legal practice, and the practice of law at the elite level will be the main themes in a seminar presented by John Bonsignore, a professor in the department of legal studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Bonsignore's lecture, titled "Teaching Ethics as a Subversive Activity," is free and open to the public. It will be from noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday, April 3, in Room W401 in the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.

The presentation is part of the spring series of Ethics Seminars, sponsored by the UI College of Business Administration, the Project on Rhetoric of Inquiry, and UI International Programs. The Ethics Seminars are intended to create a place for and foster interdisciplinary conversations about ethics.

Time will be provided at the end of the lecture for participants to assess the usefulness of Bonsignore's approach in the areas where they teach.

For more information about the seminar, contact the Project on Rhetoric of Inquiry at (319) 335-2753.
