Expert on human rights and multinational companies lectures April 2 at UI

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A nationally known expert on business ethics will discuss some of the human rights issues facing multinational companies in a lecture at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at the University of Iowa College of Business Administration.

John Bonsignore of the department of legal studies of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst will discuss "Multinationals: Impasses, Projections, and Prophecies" in Room W151 of the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the John F. Murray Lecture program of the UI College of Business Administration in cooperation with Global Focus: Human Rights '98.

Bonsignore also will lead a discussion from noon to 1:15 p.m. Friday, April 3 in Room W401 of the Pappajohn Building as part of the ongoing Ethics Seminar of the Project on the Rhetoric of Inquiry (POROI), the College of Business Administration and Global Focus.

Bonsignore's seminar presentation will focus on the teaching of ethics and, in particular, what traditional approaches to the teaching of ethics often leave out.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Participants are invited to bring a lunch.

Global Focus is a joint project of the UI's International Programs and the College of Law's International and Comparative Law Program initiated to commemorate, in cooperation with other UI colleges, departments, centers, and projects, the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
