UI professor receives American Cancer Society research grant
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The American Cancer Society has awarded a professor
at the University of Iowa College of Medicine a three-year, $307,500 institutional
research grant to fund projects at the UI Cancer Center.
Dr. Richard D. Williams, associate director of clinical programs at
the cancer center, and professor and head of the Department of Urology,
received the grant from the American Cancer Society.
Beginning in July 1998, the grant will provide $102,500 a year for projects
in basic, clinical, or psychological and behavioral cancer research conducted
by junior faculty at the UI. The grant will also provide funds to allow
a graduate student in the professional health sciences to pursue a career
in cancer research.
