Public invited to UI Family Care Center open house

IOWA CITY, Iowa - A festive open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 26 to celebrate the opening of the new University of Iowa Family Care Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC).

"We've got a little something for everyone," said Beth Houlahan, nurse manager and co-director of the UI Family Care Center, located in the UIHC's Pomerantz Family Pavilion on Melrose Avenue and Hawkins Dr. "It should be fun for people of all ages."

Children's activities will include finger casts and teddy bear and Beanie BabiesTM check-ups. Adults can take tours, view informational displays, win prizes, participate in health promotion activities such as massages and screenings, and enjoy free refreshments.

The UI Family Care Center specializes in health care for the whole family. It is staffed by University of Iowa primary care physicians in family practice, general internal medicine and general pediatrics, along with specialists in health care education.

The center, which features free parking adjacent to the center, opened to patients on July 1.

Anyone with questions about the open house or about patient services at the UI Family Care Center may call (319) 384-7999 or toll-free 1-877-384-7999.
