Toward a More Perfect Union Group for women begins meeting July 15

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- All relationships between two people, committed to travel through life together via a marriage ceremony or an exchange of personal commitments, are marked by challenges and joys. Toward a More Perfect Union, a new support group offered by the University of Iowa Women's Resource and Action Center, is designed to provide women with the opportunity to share the ways they have dealt with past challenges and to talk about existing challenges.

"The group is a place to identify how marriage and relationships affect women's lives," says Susan Demas, facilitator for Toward a More Perfect Union. "We hope to provide space for women to work toward individual dreams and goals, but we will also talk about practical skills that make relationships work more smoothly. We will discuss ways to work through conflicts without compromising ideals, happiness, and sanity."

The six-week series of meetings will begin Wednesday, July 15 at the Women's Resource and Action Center, 130 N. Madison, in Iowa City. The meetings will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, to register, or to request child care, call the Women's Center at (319) 335-1486.
