Young feminist discussion group series begins Feb. 3

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Can you shave your armpits ... love men ... listen to gangsta rap ... and still be a feminist? A weekly discussion group for young feminists will tackle those issues beginning Tuesday, Feb. 3. The group is sponsored by the University of Iowa Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC).

The group, "To Be Real: Discussions on Feminism," will give young feminists a chance to look at issues that may have been left unanswered by previous generations of feminists, says Katie Geha, who developed the six-week discussion group. Participants will read and discuss several essays in a book by Rebecca Walker, To Be Real: Telling the Truth and Changing the Face of Feminism.

All meetings will be at the Women's Center, 130 N. Madison, Iowa City. For more information, call (319) 335-1486.
