UI Campus Programs assistant director wins national award for dissertation
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Tracy L. Davis, assistant director in the University
of Iowa's Office of Campus Programs and Student Activities, has won a major
award in his field for a doctoral dissertation on influencing attitudes
toward date rape that he wrote while a student at the UI College of Education.
Davis, a 1997 graduate, will be presented with the Melvene D. Hardee
Dissertation of the Year Award from the National Association of Student
Personnel Administrators at the organization's annual meeting March 10
His dissertation, "The Effectiveness of a Sex Role Socialization-Focused
Date Rape Prevention Program in Reducing Rape-Supportive Attitudes in College
Fraternity Men," was a study of ways to change the attitudes about
date rape among men in the Greek system.
Davis received his doctorate in Student Development in Postsecondary
Education from the Division of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development
in the College of Education.
Richard Dustin, professor and chair, and Deb Liddell, assistant professor,
both of the Division of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development,
directed the dissertation.
