IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Macbride Nature Recreation Area is sponsoring an evening of cross-country skiing, ice skating and tobogganing from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, weather permitting. The event is free and open to the public.

Candlelight cross-country skiing will begin at the Macbride upper parking area. A total of about one mile of trail will be marked with candles. Ice skating will be offered on a small pond adjacent to the Sailing Club Social Center. The pond will be flooded to insure smooth ice. Tobogganing will also be offered on a hill in the same area. A limited supply of toboggans and ice skates will be available for $1 at the Social Center. Skiers should supply their own skis.

Macbride Nature Recreation Area is located on County Road F28 between North Liberty and Solon. For more information, call the Recreational Services Office at (319) 335-9293.
