President Coleman slates "fireside chat" for Jan. 26
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The series of "fireside chats" with University
of Iowa President Mary Sue Coleman will continue Monday, Jan. 26 from 7-9
p.m. in the Triangle Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union. The chats are
designed to provide students with an opportunity to communicate their concerns
and ideas directly to the UI president and her cabinet.
Invitations are being sent to 500 students chosen at random from the
list of current students on record in the registrar's office. The same
process will be followed for issuing invitations to fireside chats to be
held in February, March, April and May. However, all interested students
may attend the chats.
This is the second year Coleman has held the informal discussions with
students. Like last year, she will be accompanied by a vice president
at each of the chats. Ann Rhodes, vice president for University Relations,
will participate in the Jan. 26 event.
The chats are being co-sponsored by the UI student government and the
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University
