Panel will discuss 'State of Affirmative Action'
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Women's Resource and Action
Center (WRAC) and the Latino-Native American Cultural Center will present
a panel presentation and discussion called "Building Hospitable Communities:
The State of Affirmative Action" on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 7 to 9
p.m. in Tippie Auditorium (W151) of the Pappajohn Business Administration
The discussion, part of an on-going dialogue on making our communities
open and welcoming places for all people, will feature Susan Mask, assistant
to the president and director of the UI Office of Affirmative Action; Stephana
Colbert, senior associate counsel in the Office of the Vice President for
Research; and Jan Warren, chair of the Iowa City Human Rights Commission.
The panelists will discuss recent developments in the status of affirmative
action policies and suggest strategies for protecting and enhancing the
benefits that such policies bring to our communities. The panel will be
followed by a discussion period.
