UI libraries present exhibit on literary fairies

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Libraries announce the opening of "Enchanted and Enchanting Kingdoms," an exhibit on display in the North Exhibition Hall on the first floor of the Main Library starting in mid-February.

The exhibition runs through May and is free and open to the public. It examines the roles of fairies, elves and other mythical creatures in the literature of yesterday and today. Their presence is noted in writings from Shakespeare to the Brothers Grimm and Arthur Conan Doyle and in the work of famous illustrators such as Arthur Rackham and H.J. Ford.

The library exhibit is presented in conjunction with the UI Museum of Art exhibition, "Victorian Fairy Painting," which will run from Feb. 28-May 24.
