UI Alumni Association and Placement Office to host Internet job search seminar in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, IOWA -- The University of Iowa Alumni Association and the UI Business and Liberal Arts Placement Office (BLAPO) are co-sponsoring an educational outreach program about conducting a job search on the Internet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 in 242 Science Hall of Loras College in Dubuque.

Laurie Dufoe, associate director of the BLAPO, will show job seekers how to save time and money by locating job listings, researching companies and networking on the World Wide Web. Program participants can also discover useful web sites and learn how to conduct specific career searches.

"With people sometimes changing jobs every two to five years, the career search is becoming more of a continual process. The UI is a great resource to help people renew and refine their job-seeking skills," said BLAPO director Deanna Hurst.

The Thursday evening program is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact the UI Alumni Association at 1-800- IOWALUM (1-800-469-2586). Participants can also register online at
