UI winter commencement exercises set for Dec. 18-19
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa will confer more than 1,400
degrees at winter commencement exercises Friday and Saturday, Dec. 18 and
19, following the end of the fall academic session.
Ceremonies will be held for the Graduate College and the Colleges of
Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Education, Engineering and Nursing.
The ceremonies are open to the public. Seats are not reserved, and tickets
are not necessary for admission. Doors will be open one hour before each

Graduate College, Friday, Dec. 18, 7:30 p.m., at Hancher Auditorium.
Number of degree candidates: 425. Degrees will be conferred by David Skorton,
vice president for research.
Business Administration, Saturday, Dec. 19, 9 a.m., at Hancher
Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 155. Degrees will be conferred
by Phillip E. Jones, vice president for student services.
Liberal Arts and Education, Saturday, Dec. 19, 10 a.m., at Carver
Hawkeye Arena. Number of degree candidates: 735. President Mary Sue Coleman
will confer degrees.
Engineering, Saturday, Dec. 19, noon, Clapp Recital Hall. Number
of degree candidates: 47. Provost Jon Whitmore will confer degrees.
Nursing, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2 p.m., at Hancher Auditorium. Number
of degree candidates: 75. Degrees will be conferred by Ann Rhodes, vice
president for university relations.
