Orphan dog will seek new home at Dec. 10 performance of 'Annie' in
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- One family at the Thursday, Dec. 10 performance of
"Annie" at the University of Iowa Hancher Auditorium may go home
with more than smiles on their faces: They may acquire a new member of
the family. An orphan dog from the Iowa City/Coralville Animal Shelter
will be featured on stage during the performance, and then made available
Annie's pal, Sandy, is not the only dog in the 20th-anniversary production
of "Annie." A scene in Act I calls for a stray mutt to be carried

will be an actual stray from the shelter, looking for a new family.
After the dog's appearance in Act I, representatives of the animal shelter
will take the dog to a table in the lobby at intermission, in hopes that
an individual or family in the audience will apply for adoption.
