IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Heidi M. Berven, a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, has been appointed to a one-year research fellowship at the UI to study how technology can improve the workplace for people with disabilities.

As a post-doctoral fellow at the UI Law, Health Policy and Disability Center, Berven will explore issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act and issues related to assistive technology and people with disabilities.

The appointment is funded through Iowa Creative Employment Options (Iowa CEO) at the UI, a program that helps Iowa businesses employ people with disabilities.

Berven holds a doctorate in organic chemistry. An expert on assistive technology, she has written several studies on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
